Microsoft Outlook 2003 Email Configuration
This document will describe how to set up your e-mail inbox in Microsoft
Outlook 2003.
Step 1: If you are opening Outlook for the first
time, it will ask you to set up an e-mail account. If you have already
set one up in the past, then to get to this screen click
Tools and select E-mail Accounts. Click Add a
new e-mail account and then click Next.
Step 2: Choose POP3 and press Next.
Step 3: Fill in all of the fields provided:
- Your Name
- E-mail Address
- Incoming mail server (POP3): This should have been provided to
you. If your email address is testuser@testdomain.com, then assume
that your mailserver is mail.testdomain.com (replace testdomain.com
with your domain name, i.e., what comes after the '@' in your email
address).
- Outgoing mail server (SMTP): Use the SMTP (outbound) mail server
provided to you by your Internet Service Provider (ISP). This should
be something like smtp.someprovider.com. This is the preferred configuration.
If you do not know your outbound mailserver, then use mail.onestoptechnology.com;
however, be aware that you may have problems with this configuration
or it may not work at all.
If you used mail.onestoptechnology.com as your SMTP (outbound) mail server,
then you must also do the following:
i. Click the More Settings button.
ii. Click the Outgoing Server tab.
iii. Check the "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" checkbox.
Click OK.
- User Name: This is your full e-mail address.
You must enter your full e-mail address (not just username) or
your will not be able to receive e-mail.
- Password

Step 4: Once these fields are populated, click Test
Account Settings to verify that Outlook can connect to the mail servers.

Assuming all steps yield green checkmarks as shown above, click Close.
On the configuration screen, click Finish. Congratulations,
your e-mail is properly configured.
